This program is to equip housewives and single mothers with training in specialized skills that would allow them to actively participate in the economic growth of the country while maintaining their status as housewives. Training courses under HEARTS program are fully-funded by Government to eligible housewives and single mothers. Therefore, housewives and single mothers do not have to pay for this program.
Housewives and single mothers not in employment will be given a platform to upgrade their knowledge and skills, and be self-employed from home. This will automatically increase the percentage of employable women participation in the Malaysia’s labor market from 46% to 55%. To achieve the status of a fully developed country by 2020, participation of employable women in the economic growth must increase to 55%.
Married woman or single mother, not in active employment and possess tertiary education at least at Diploma level, between the ages of 25 – 60 years old and must be a Malaysian citizen.
Housewives who embark this program through Alpha International will be taken through 2 modules namely, module 1: Transition and Module 2: Business Communication Etiquette totaling up to 2 days and then they have an option to pursue on the area of specialization such as Women Entrepreneurship (through Alpha International Training & Consultancy) for 3 days, Script writing and Creative writing(through Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka) will be 10 days each, translation (through Institute Penterjemahan Malaysia) will be 10 days and Business Process Contact Centre (through Data Com Sdn Bhd) will be 15 days. Upon completion of the chosen areas, the housewives and single mothers could work from home as an Entrepreneur, Translators, Script Writers, Creative Writers or Tele-Marketers
The Government is hoping by conducting this exercise it will help generate income for the housewives and single mothers and improve Malaysia’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index 2013 – 2014.
